Benton Scholarship Foundation sets annual fundraising goal - $50,000

The Benton Scholarship Foundation has set a campaign goal of $50,000 for 2016-2017 school year. This follows another successful year of fundraising that resulted in eight new permanent scholarships established.

The Benton Scholarship Foundation presented 87 scholarships valued at $83,450 to members of the Benton Community High School class of 2016. Cristy Hurley, BSF President, said, ""The fact we have more than 65 businesses, families and individuals with a permanent scholarship is a real testament to the community's support of our mission to help students further their education." (For complete list of permanent scholarships, click here.)

The named scholarships awarded for the first time in 2016 are as follows:

  • Benton Community Class of 2016 Scholarship
  • Earlene Clausen Scholarship 
  • Duane & Pamela England Scholarship
  • Hill Bank & Trust Company Scholarship
  • Keith & Wendy Junge Scholarship
  • Rabe Hardware Scholarship

Benton Scholarship Foundation (BSF)

The Benton Scholarship Foundation (BSF) is a non-profit organization founded in 1990. Our mission is to help provide higher education for Benton Community graduates through the generous donations from businesses, patrons, and friends of Benton Community in the form of scholarships.

Our Community

We serve the rural Iowa communities of Atkins, Blairstown, Elberon, Keystone, Newhall, Norway, Van Horne, and Watkins.

Our Continued Commitment

In May of 2016, the Benton Scholarship Foundation awarded $83,450 to 58 Benton Community High School Class of 2016 seniors. Since 1990, our endowment has grown to over $1.6 million.
